Our photo scanning service allows you to safely secure the longevity of your treasured memories.
Many of you will undoubtedly have a shoebox or some other type of container full of photos lying dormant in the house somewhere.
Or there would be those of you who have diligently sorted your prints into photo albums that have now, in the passage of time, lost their appeal as the plastic sleeves covering the prints have begun deteriorating, yellowing, and likely sticking to the prints. Not quite the esteemed look that your treasured prints deserve.
Luna Pix offers you two levels of scanning: Shoebox Scanning and Manual Scanning, the difference is detailed below.
So what's the difference?
SHOEBOX SCANNING
‘Shoebox scanning’ is a term derived from the traditional practice of people storing printed photos inside shoeboxes and later used by photo scanning businesses to denote the bulk scanning of photos.
Shoebox scanning utilises high-speed scanning equipment to convert large quantities of printed images into a digital format, all safely and reliably.
Photo sizes capable of being bulk scanned range from
3" x 3" (76mm x 76mm) to A4 size (297mm x 210mm) and are scanned at a high 600dpi resolution. Contact Luna Pix for 1200dpi resolution prices.

Shoebox Scanning Conditions
Photographs should be:

In good condition
-
Unmounted, not torn, bent or sticky
-
Free from staples, Blu Tac, or foreign objects attached to the photo
-
Removed from envelopes and album pages
-
Minimum size 3" x 3" (76mm x 76mm) to Maximum A4 size (297mm x 210mm)

No Polaroid or instant photos (see Custom Scanning)
-
No pre-1960 photographs (see Custom Scanning and Restoration Service for pre-1960 scanning)
Pick Up & Delivery:
We do free pickup & delivery of your photos in the Greater Port Macquarie & Camden Haven Region.
For all other areas Australia Wide, Luna Pix will send you via Australia Post one of our custom shoeboxes (excluding sample scanning) for you to fill with your photos and return back to us.
On completion of the project, we will return your shoebox of photos and digital images. For more information refer to our How It Works page.

CUSTOM SCANNING
CUSTOM SCANNING - POLAROIDS
Typical photos that require custom scanning include:

Those photos that are deemed too fragile, including vintage prints, and those that are ripped, or overtly damaged.

Polaroid prints

Mounted prints – where photos are attached to a backing board.

Laminated photos
-
Prints larger than A4 and less than A3 size.
Note:
Damaged prints will most likely require manual enhancement to enrich the appearance of the photos. Luna Pix will discuss with you which photos need fixing during the project’s operation, including the additional cost.

Conditions

Customers will receive single image enhanced digital photos as part of each project. (Please advise Luna Pix if non-enhanced copies are also required).

Scanned information will also preserve all relevant features including any handwritten notes located on the backside of the photo. This will be forwarded as a separate image

The optimum photo amount per folder is a minimum of 20 up to a maximum of 36 images. Please discuss with Luna Pix where alternative folder content quantities are required.

7 working-days processing of most projects under 1000 photos.

Images can also be stored on external drives and in online cloud storage, discuss requirements with Luna Pix when initiating the project.

Please ensure all photographs are removed from envelopes and album pages. Additional charges are applied where Luna Pix are required to fulfil this task.
